Just like every year, we organise a ‘flu-vaccine-day’, to give the opportunity being vaccinated against influenza. The WHO recommended that the Northern Hemisphere’s 2011–2012 seasonal influenza vaccine contain the three vaccine viruses A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09; A/Hong Kong/4801/2014 (H3N2); B/Brisbane/60/2008.
A yearly flu shot is recommended for the following groups of people who are at increased risk for serious complications from the flu:
- Persons aged >60 years;
- Persons who have chronic heart (like heart insufficiency) or lung conditions (including asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema, bronchiectasies, tuberculosis and fibrosis); chronic kidney disease; metabolic diseases (like diabetes), or weakened immune system or treated with immunesuppresive medication; furunculosis
- Household members (including children) and doctors, nurses, and other people who have contact with people in high-risk groups
