Dr. Max Meertens, family doctor

He specialised at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands and then worked in various clinics in the Netherlands. He has been working in Guatemala and then settled in Benissa since 1994. He collaborates with several universities directing rotations in Family Medicine. What he likes most about working in Spain is the freedom to organise the timetable to see patients, which means enough time to dedicate to all patients without overloaded schedules.

Max Meertens is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.15 am - 1 pm, always by appointment in order to be able to serve everyone well and to avoid waiting time.

Meteen kregen we reactie via de whatsapp. Waar we heel goed zijn geholpen met een afspraak en advies. Tijdens de afspraak goed geholpen door Max. Wat een fijne huisarts. Hij nam ruim de tijd. Er werd goed geluisterd en daarna goed nagekeken en nadien een goede uitleg. Heel fijn dat dit in het Nederlands kan. Hopelijk heb je het niet nodig. Aan de receptie vriendelijk ontvangen en ook keek de huisarts me goed na. Er werd alle tijd genomen en goed overlegd wat de mogelijkheden waren. Uiteindelijk gekozen voor antibiotica, welke de dag erna al direct goed aansloeg. Hierdoor nog een fijne vakantie kunnen hebben! Ik hoop niet vaak terug te moeten, maar zeker een aanrader voor als het nodig is!

Iedereen is erg vriendelijk en vooral Max is een hele fijne empathische huisarts die tijd voor je neemt en afspraken nakomt. Zelf heb ik nooit een andere arts gehad welke zo goed naar zijn patiënt luistert. Tevens is de nazorg zeer goed. De kliniek ziet er altijd netjes en schoon uit. De frontdesk is netjes en de dames zijn zeer vriendelijk. Nogmaal, Max is in mijn ogen de beste huisarts die je kan wensen wanneer je het fijn vindt om in je moedertaal te communiceren over je gezondheid.

An electrocardiogram records the heart’s electrical activity and helps to detect arrhythmias, irregular heart rhythms, signs of a previous heart attack, enlargement of the heart chambers and other heart problems. It is the standard cardiac test carried out during any cardiological check-up.

It doesn’t hurt at all. Adhesive electrodes are placed on your chest, arms and legs whilst you are lying down, and the recording takes just a few minutes. In total, the whole test takes about 10 minutes and the doctor will discuss the results with you during the same appointment.

Yes. You can book an appointment directly and have an ECG done privately, without a referral, and receive your results and report straight away. Many patients request this as part of a health check-up or before taking up a sport.

If you experience palpitations, unusual tiredness or dizziness; if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol or a family history of heart problems; or if you are about to start intense exercise after the age of 40.
