Today, the best way to fight breast cancer is to have regular mammograms, so that it is detected even before it can be touched. Countries that have been developing early detection programmes of this kind for years have managed to reduce mortality from breast cancer.
In the Region of Valencia, a Breast Cancer Prevention Programme is being developed which offers the possibility of mammograms to women between 45 and 69 years of age, every two years; this is the interval that experts consider to be the most appropriate. All women over 45 years of age registered in our region can request to be included in the Breast Cancer prevention programme (UPCM).
