On 7th August we shall be taking part, for the second time, in a humanitarian help project in Tindouf and in the liberated territories of Western Sahara (Tifariti and Mehaires). As you know, basic dental assistance is being provided for the local population through a series of fully-equipped clinics and the work of Dentalcoop volunteers who offer their services to thousands of patients since April 2014. The novelty which occurred in the first trip in which Clínica Benissa took part in December 2016, was the participation of several medical doctors. As the combination of various medical and dental specialities proved to be very successful, a plan for comprehensive assistance for the liberated territories has been developed.
An important part of the programme is the supply of medicines and medical material. On the one hand, those needed for our interventions (antibiotics, analgesics, NSAID and emergency supplies) and, on the other hand, those medicines that are needed and usually lack at the Sahrawi Central Pharmacy. You may follow us on Facebook where you will also find the list of medicines and medical supplies which me need, in case you are able to help us to obtain them. Any donation from your part, however small, will be most welcome. You may deposit the medical supplies at our clinic (between 9 a.m and 1 p.m.). You can also help by making a donation to the Dentalcoop Sahara bank account at La Caixa, IBAN ES31 2100 0876 3002 0029 8355, indicating the reference; Sahara Benissa.
This expedition is named “Kabiri”, in memory of our Sahrawi prosthetist (left on the picture), who died a few months ago. Kabiri did a fantastic job in developing the prosthesic department and was an example for those of us who have been there.
